About this site and myself
I created this site for a couple of reasons:
one: Because I like to design websites. It's a nice creative hobby. I code by hand, by the way.
two: The site also functions as a resumé and portfolio of sorts, if someone should want to throw money at me.
So who am I? Well, I'm a Danish guy in my early twenties. I study
design and engineering at the
Danish Technical University, where I'm on my 6th semester out of 10. I'm currently working on my BA project and, well, typing what you're reading right now (that is, it was current when I wrote it).
I'm a Macintosh evangelist and a bit of an all-around gadget junkie. My interests are industrial design as well as what's under the hood of stuff. I do some programming (mostly apps for myself) and evidently some web design. I also do graphic stuff. Not "graphic" as in violent or x-rated, but as in Photoshop and Illustrator. I also do some 3D stuff in Lightwave3D.
Below you'll find a list of technologies and software I'm familiar with
Web Design
- XHTML & CSS (obviously)
- Java & JavaScript
- PHP & MySQL
- Flash... unfortunately
Graphic Design, Desktop Publishing & Video Editing
- Adobe's Photoshop
- Adobe's Illustrator
- Adobe's InDesign
- Apple's Final Cut Pro
3D/CAD/CAM
- Newtek's LightWave
- Luxology's modo
- Discreet's 3DStudio Max
- PTC's Pro/Engineer
Programming
- Java
- REALBasic (Mac) & VisualBasic (Win)
My formal education includes courses in static, dynamic and fluid mechanics, mathematics, design and production of plastic parts, basic electronics, JAVA programming, and a whole lot more. It also covers social approaches to design (design used in its widest sense), enviromental and sustainable design, workspace design, design of product/service systems, mechatronic systems and (again) a whole lot more.
Other interests include interface design (both virtual and physical), politics, literature, stuff in general, making stuff, taking stuff apart, and once in a while blowing stuff up (my own stuff - I'm not evil).
Basically, I'm a pretty nice and generous guy... at least I think so...
A little more about this site: I wrote it to conform to the xhtml and css standards, as put down by the
The Worldwide Web Consortium, which means that if it looks all wrong, your browser's probably not up to scratch. No popups, no ads, and the links all open in this window, not a new one. I hope, however, you'll hit the back-button and get back here again. Oh, and NO FLASH! Flash, in my view, usually gets out of hand and takes over completely. Sure, it can be done very nicely, but when everything you click makes stuff swirl around and play music, you lose responsiveness. I like to see my browser working the instant I click a link, unless there's a reason for things to be animated. Besides, I think it's a bigger and more interesting challenge to make stuff fly around (or something similar), without using Flash. When I see that something's made in Flash, I become much harder to impress. Thus, perhaps to impress myself more easily, what swirly or animated stuff I do have on this site is hand-coded in JavaScript, and it's here as experiments only.
I'm going to stop rambling now, and let you get on with your life.
